With new albums I usually publish my reviews a day or two after release, or on Mondays as I find that after the weekend most people and some publications can sit with that album and gather their thoughts a bit, although there's nothing wrong with doing that within 2 hours of release!

My pieces have always been reviews, especially for MMA but with publications like The Riff, they have that element of including personal experiences which I think lets writers open up more.
